Psalms 81:11-12. Why are we in crazy, chaotic, and sometimes dire circumstances? This scripture only begins to shed light on this dilemma. This Scripture begins by pointing out DISOBEDIENCE to God. We tend to do this all the time. Mankind, I mean. We try to take over, do things ourselves, and lean to our understanding. When we do this, we often act wrong and speak wrongly to others and know we are doing wrong and do it anyway. Better to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission-right? This is one of the main reasons we end up in some of the messes we end up in.
The next verse offers a glimpse into God's people management principle. Because of DISOBEDIENCE, God turns the disobedient over to themselves. In other words, you made your bed and now have to lay in it. This is where we place ourselves above God. Now, we want to fix things ourselves and devise all these grand plans and schemes without acknowledging God or asking for his counsel. Without even thinking about what we are doing, that being turned away from God, we set in motion the events of our current situations. In other words, things went from bad to worse. Then we ask, "God, how have you allowed this to happen to me?" We begin to blame God and everyone else for the mess we made. All the time, God was saving us from ourselves until we continued with our arrogant behavior. Then, God sat back and used our mess as a teaching opportunity. We must humble ourselves and listen and learn because the longer we put the learning of our lesson off, the longer the punishment will last. Fear not, though. God will never leave you or forsake you. If our darkness seems prolonged, it may be because of the hardening of our hearts. It may be our continued behavior that does not align with God's purpose. It may be Him preparing your blessings, or it very well could be HIM preparing YOU for your blessings.
